Content marketing is one of the most powerful means of online marketing today. But there is a lot of false information and disinformation out there on how to do it right. Here is a brief and concise how-to-guide for content marketing.
Know Your Audience
You do not want to waste time and resources on marketing to an audience who is not interested in your product/service and will never be interested. Also, if you don’t know who your target audience is then you will not know what kind of content to market towards them.
Do some research and find out who your ideal customer is. Why are they buying your product and how do they make their purchasing decision? Create content that will convince them that they should consider you an authoritative resource.
What Kind of Content is Your Audience Interested in?
Chances are that your customers are looking for content that will help answer their questions concerning your product or service. Help your audience by creating content that is helpful and creates conversation. Don’t be overly promotional in your content, offer something that your consumer will feel comfortable sharing with others.
Track Your Work
Analyzing your content marketing campaign is crucial to understanding what works and what doesn’t. If you are not tracking your analytics then you are blind to what is working and what isn’t. You should also consistently monitor how your content is shared through social media sites. With so many active users in social media it is crucial to analyze how well your content does on the various social sites out there.
Repeat, but be Creative
Once you have found out what works it is important to make sure that you continue to repeat what your consumer is positively responding to. But remember to be creative and not simply rewrite the same content over and over again. This is probably the most difficult part of content marketing.
